Paving The
Way For The Tailor Of Gloucester
The House of the Tailor of Gloucester yet remains,
A museum to Beatrix Potter it now contains,
With plans to open the building anew,
Showing all the characters that Beatrix drew;
To delight the children of various ages,
All their animal friends who fill the pages,
Who have pleasure given to generations,
Throughout the world and to many nations.
Peter Rabbit, Squirrel Nutkin, Benjamin Bunny,
Many children found these three funny,
Mrs. Tiggy-Winkle, Mr Jeremy Fisher, Mrs. Tittlemouse,
Will also be found at the Tailor’s House;
Timmy Tiptoe, Johnny Town-Mouse, and Mr Tod
In reposed nap have been known to nod,
Pigling Bland, Samuel Whiskers, Jemima Puddle-Duck,
All added to Beatrix Potters’ Good Luck.
To bring these creatures back to life again,
And ensure the House of The Tailor will remain,
Revenues are needed to purchase the house,
To keep a home for The Tailor’s brown mouse;
£ 250,000 was required the purchase to make,
At the present £153,000 is now the take,
The shortfall is open for everyone to give,
So The Tailor of Gloucester worldwide will live.
There is no age limit or size of amount,
Being able to contribute it all that will count.
Whatever the contribution; no matter the sum,
Whatever’s donated will make the till hum;
The House of The Tailor in College Court
Across Westgate Street in Westgate Quart,
Opposite the Union Inn once the tailor’s shop,
And like The Tailor, one to the other you hop.
